Processing review · One business day
Processing is the floor. Fix it in a day and get back to the room.
Your growth is in guests, tabs, and repeat visits. Processing fees are not where a place grows, but they are where a lot of places leak. Send Brian one statement. You get a plain-English answer on what you are really paying, and then you can stop thinking about it.
A photo of the last page is enough. Answer within one business day.
What you get back
- Your real effective rate: everything you paid, divided by everything you ran.
- The fees on the statement that are padding, and the ones that are just the cost of taking cards.
- A straight answer: fair, a little high, or you are being taken.
- If it is worth moving, what that looks like. If it is not, you hear that too.
Sound familiar?
You know the statement is wrong. You do not have an afternoon to prove it.
“I cannot read my own statement.”
That is by design. Four pages of line items so the one number that matters never appears. We find it in about ten minutes.
“Every processor says they will beat my rate.”
And most of them can, on the one line they showed you. The fees move somewhere else. You should see the whole statement compared, not a quote.
“I am tired of being pitched. I just want to know.”
Fair. So this is a review, not a pitch. You get the answer whether or not you ever move a dollar to us.
What Brian looks for
How to read a statement, in plain words
You can do this yourself with a calculator and twenty minutes. Or you can send it and let Brian do it. Either way, this is where the money hides.
Your effective rate
Total fees for the month divided by total card volume. Every fee, not just the headline rate. This is the only number that tells you what you actually pay, and it is almost never printed on the statement.
Interchange plus, tiered, or flat
Interchange plus shows the card brand cost and the processor's markup separately, so you can see what you are paying for. Tiered pricing sorts your sales into buckets and the buckets tend to drift upward. Flat rate is simple and often the most expensive for a busy bar. Knowing which one you are on explains most of the statement.
PCI and non-compliance fees
A PCI fee is normal. A non-compliance fee on top of it usually means a questionnaire nobody told you to fill out. It is one of the easiest charges to make disappear, and it keeps showing up until someone looks.
Monthly minimums and equipment leases
A minimum charges you for months you were slow. An equipment lease charges you for a terminal long after you could have bought it outright. Both are often separate from the processing agreement and outlive it. Read the term and the buyout before you sign anything new.
From the floor, not the brochure
Owners who have been through it
Real venues, real systems, the good and the bad. We do not publish quotes we cannot stand behind.
“We ditched Toast after seeing Brian’s comparison, and we could not be happier with SmartTab. Setup was fast, and support has been 100% better.”
“The only person I’ve seen actually explain the differences in plain English.”
How it works
Three steps. The first one takes a minute.
1
Fill in the short form
Name, number, what kind of place, and roughly what you run on cards each month. That tells Brian what a fair number looks like before he opens your statement.
2
Send the statement, or do not
After you submit, text or email a photo of your last statement to (970) 802-8200 or brian@get-with-it.com. Or skip that and Brian will ask for it on the call.
3
Your answer, within one business day
Your effective rate, the fees that should not be there, and whether moving is worth it. In writing, in plain English. Then you get back to running the room.
Send my statement
Fill this in, then text or email a photo of your last statement to (970) 802-8200 or brian@get-with-it.com. Or just submit, and Brian will ask for it on the call.
Before you send it
Do I have to switch?
No. You send a statement, you get a plain answer. If your rate is fair, Brian tells you so and you keep what you have. If it is not, he shows you the difference and you decide. Plenty of owners take the review and stay put.
Is this a hard sell?
It is one email or one call with the answer written down. If you want to move, we handle it. If you do not, nobody calls you every week. Brian does these because the owners who take them tend to come back later, and the ones who do not still send their friends.
What about my equipment lease?
Bring it. Equipment leases are often the most expensive line on the whole statement, and they usually outlive the processing agreement they came with. Brian will read the lease term and the buyout and tell you what it is really costing you per month. Sometimes the right move is to wait it out. Sometimes it is not.
How fast is the answer?
Within one business day of getting your statement. Not a sales cycle, not a discovery call, not a second meeting. A number, in plain English, and what it means for you.
What is With It Payments?
Our processing company. With It Payments handles card processing for bars, restaurants, and nightclubs with a statement you can read and a person who answers when a batch looks wrong. If switching makes sense, that is where you would land. You can read more at withitpayments.com.
Why not just promise to beat my rate?
Because anyone can beat a rate on paper and make it back in fees you did not notice. The honest version is the whole statement, fees included, against what you would actually pay. That is the number you get.
One statement. One business day. Then back to the room.
Your fees are the floor, not the ceiling. Get a straight answer on them once, fix what needs fixing, and spend your time on the guests.
